At T.C. Harris School, Direct Support Professtionals provide therapeutic and educational services to children, adolescents and young adults with developmental disabilities and emotional disturbances. The position requires continuous supervision of a particular client while they engage in their daily living activities. Candidates must demonstrate an understanding of the types of behaviors typical of individuals with emotional and developmental disabilities. Direct Support Professionals are trained to use proper interventions and therapeutic approaches while assisting our clients. Requires demonstrated ability in the following areas: organizational skills, delegation of appropriate duties, accuracy and attention to detail in paperwork and other documentation. A minimum of a high school diploma or G.E.D. College degree in a human services field preferred. Demonstrated skill and/or potential in working directly with mentally retarded and/or emotionally disturbed residents. Must be 21 years of age.
